When you stop and look at aging from a purely cellular level, you can really see what is happening to the body, and most importantly what you can do to stop or slow the process down!

#1  Free Radical Damage:

Free radicals are something our bodies are faced with every day. In simplest form, electrons like to be in pairs so single electrons- called free radicals- scavenge the body to seek out other electrons.

Think of them like a thief. This causes increased tissue damage AND more free radicals! What does tissue damage cause? Wrinkles, saggy skin, and collagen loss to just name a few.

So, what can we do about it? Well remember how we called the free radical a thief? Well if we can GIVE the free radical what it wants, electrons, then it won’t need to steal from other cells.

Introducing Anti-Oxidants. Now most people have heard of these before but may not understand how they work. Anti-Oxidants have the ability to give the “Thief” an electron, which protects the cells from damage. This stopped the progression of damage.

Some of your best anti-Oxidant sources come from food and supplements! Some of our favorites include Wolfberry, Pomegranate, Blueberry, and cherries! Our personal favorite? Ningxia Red Juice!

#2 Methylation

Methylation: in its simplest form is the body’s ability to “clean out” the toxins.

Think of your body like a house. If you try to clean it with a vacuum that is broken, you won’t get very far. BUT if you get the top of the line vacuum, and a professional cleaning crew there will be no dust or dirt remaining! You will have a CLEAN HOUSE!

We can provide our body the tools to methylate properly through vitamins and minerals. Specifically, B6, B12, and Folate!

#3 Glycation + Glycosylation:

Lets talk about sugar.. We all know it is bad for us but how does it impact aging? A process called “Glycation” involves sugar to cause protein fibers to become stiff and malformed. The proteins most effected are collagen and elastin fibers- the same ones that make you look youthful. This shows up in your skin as wrinkles, sagginess and loss of that youthful glow.

Now we can’t avoid all forms of sugar, but someone with healthy levels will see a very gradual aging over time- something we expect. But when you have a high glycemic index diet (spikes in your blood sugar), this process is dramatically sped up.

There are many additional health benefits that come from a low glycemic index diet, but purely from an aging perspective your skin will thank you!

#4 Inflammation

This is something that happens to our body for a variety of reasons. Something as simple as spraining your ankle will cause inflammation. What many don’t realize is the foods we eat can contribute to OR protect us from inflammation.

Think of inflammation like a fire. Our first step is to stop feeding the fire. This means eliminating BAD fats and processed foods. Things like saturated and trans fats.

Then we must “pour water onto the fire”. Omega 3 fatty acids, Vitamin B6, Essential Oils, and Microcurrent have all been shown to calm inflammation, which in turn will decrease tissue damage!

#5 Psychophysiological Aspects
~ a fancy way of saying our mental health and stress levels.

We know stress is not good for our body, but what is it actually doing to us? If you think of stress like battery acid. It corrodes everything it comes in contact with. Your collagen fibers, your immune system, your hormones.. Everything suffers. But we all have stress and that is not going away. So what can we do to manage it in a healthy way?

Supporting the body nutritionally is shown to calm your stress hormones. The use of essential oils can have powerful calming abilities. Meridian Balancing (an ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine system) from one of our practitioners is a fabulous way to combat stress in your life.

Meditation. Exercise. The list goes on and on. The most important part is find a way that works for YOU and implement it! Because stress is one of the most toxic things in our lives.

Second Chance Facial Rejuvenation has taken all 5 reasons why a cell breaks down and ages faster

than normal and implemented a completely natural approach to reducing and slowing this

process from the root cause.

The result? A slowing and reversal of aging process, improved health, AND a more youthful face.
